Dr. David W. Cole

Dr. David W. Cole is Professor Emeritus of Finance in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He holds a bachelors degree from Capital University, a Masters degree in business administration from Ohio University, and a doctoral degree in business administration from Indiana University. Professor Cole joined The Ohio State University Faculty of Finance in 1965. Capital University honored Dr. Cole with an Alumni Achievement Award in 1999.

In 1969, Dr. Cole received The Ohio State University Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, and in 1976, 1983, and 1989 received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the College of Business at Ohio State. Professor Cole was selected as one of the 100 founding members of the ACADEMY OF TEACHING at The Ohio State University in 1993. In April of 1993, he was awarded the Fisher College of Business Distinguished Service Award, and in March, 2002 was awarded The Ohio State University Distinguished Service Award. He has published numerous articles and cases relating to the financial management of commercial banks and thrifts and has worked with over 100 banks and thrifts in analyzing financial strengths and weaknesses, developing financial strategies, and facilitating strategic planning.

Dr. Cole is an active participant in management education programs and is currently the Dean of the Faculty at Pacific Coast Banking School and has been a favorite of PCBS students since 1969.

Cass Bettinger

President of Cass Bettinger & Associates, Cass and a small team of consultants are strategic advisors to ownership groups, boards of directors, and senior leadership teams of financial institutions nationwide to help them manage change, enhance shareholder value, and control their own destinies. In addition, Mr. Bettinger, together with the highly respected public accounting firm of McGladrey & Pullen and Bob Walters, is a founding partner of The Bank CEO Network, a nationwide program for community bank CEOs. Previously, as senior vice president of Sheshunoff and Company, Cass managed the High Performance Affiliation Program, which involved a direct working relationship with over 800 bank and bank holding company CEOs nationwide.

Mr. Bettinger holds MA and MBA degrees, and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School. Cass is also the author of High Performance in the 90s: Leading the Strategic and Cultural Revolution in Banking, The Bank Director’s Role in the Strategic Planning Process, and over 50 articles on banking related topics. Previously, Mr. Bettinger was affiliated with Citicorp in New York, Latin America and Asia, and with Commercial Security Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah, and FNB Corp. A former chapter president for Robert Morris Associates, Mr. Bettinger has been on the faculties of a number of banking schools including Pacific Coast Banking School (PCBS).

Timothy W. Long

Tim Long was appointed Senior Deputy Comptroller for Mid-Size/Community Bank Supervision and officially assumed his new position in May 2002.  He is responsible for the Comptroller of the Currency’s Mid-Size/Community Bank program, supervising approximately 1,900 banks, Federal Branches and Agencies and 1,500 employees.  He serves as a member of OCC’s Executive Committee, the Committee on Bank Supervision, and is Chairman of OCC’s Human Capital Subcommittee.  Tim also serves as an advisory director to the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, Washington.

Previously, Tim served as Deputy Comptroller for Large Bank Supervision.  Prior to that, he held field positions in the Western and Southwestern Districts.  He was also a member of the Multinational Banking Division and served as Examiner-in-Charge of NationsBank, Wells Fargo Bank and First Interstate Bank. 

A native of Malta, Montana, Tim began his career with the OCC in 1979 in the Great Falls sub-regional office.  He attended the University of Montana, graduating in 1978 with a degree in Business Administration.

Dr. Marianne Jennings

Professor Marianne Jennings is a member of the Department of Management in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and is a professor of legal and ethical studies in business. A member of the faculty at ASU since 1977, she teaches graduate courses in the MBA program in business ethics and the legal environment of business and in May 2006, was named as the faculty director for the MBA Executive Program. Professor Jennings has authored more than 150 articles in academic, professional and trade journals, and currently has six textbooks and monographs in circulation. Her latest book is titled The Seven Signs of Ethical Collapse. Professor Jennings has done consulting work for law firms, well-known businesses and professional groups, and has conducted more than 300 workshops and seminars in the areas of business, personal, government, legal, academic and professional ethics. She has appeared on CNBC, CBS This Morning, the Today Show, and CBS Evening News. Professor Jennings has been a member of the PCBS faculty since 2004.
